JMI Planning was formed by Jim Malkin and Jon Imber. Jim and Jon are chartered town planners with over 30 years of combined experience of public and private sector planning. Jim and Jon forged a close working relationship working together at East Staffordshire Borough Council, where their pragmatic approach and complementary skill sets developed.
The team at JMI Planning also includes Graduate Planner Teodora Golemdzhiyska, who graduated from Liverpool University with a Masters in Town and Regional Planning.
Jim is a chartered member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and has worked in planning for over 15 years in both the public sector and in private practice. As well as his role overseeing the consultancy, Jim leads on many planning applications ranging from large scale residential and commercial developments, to smaller agricultural and householder based schemes. Jim has previously worked with major developers and landowners and has dealt with applications for strategic urban extensions, large scale commercial developments and even a European tour standard golf course.
Jon is a chartered town planner with experience in both the private and public sectors. As a Director of JMI Planning he leads on a variety of cases from single dwellings and household extensions to residential development sites and large scale commercial schemes. Jon is particularly experienced in rural schemes such as barn conversions, agricultural development and development sites on the edge of villages.
Teodora joined JMI Planning as a Graduate Planner after concluding her studies at the founding planning school, The University of Liverpool. Having graduated with a 1st Class Masters in Town and Regional Planning. Teodora began her planning career in the enforcement team at North West Leicestershire District Council before joining JMI Planning in late 2017. Teodora is working towards becoming a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute and is involved in a variety of small and large scale projects.
