Working alongside the client, JMI secured outline planning permission for up to 8 high-quality new homes on land within Scholar Green.
After a lengthy process that required the case to go before Cheshire East Planning Committee, Claire Preston successfully managed this complex project within the Potteries Green Belt through careful navigation of planning and heritage constraints. The strategy focused heavily on demonstrating local housing need, framing the scheme as a sustainable logical rounding off of Scholar Green.
Claire tackled a number of key challenges, including:
- Policy constraints – successfully argued the merits of the site within its planning context and how the development aligns with sustainable growth
- Heritage Considerations – addressing potential sensitivities regarding the nearby Macclesfield Canal Conservation Area, the Grade II listed Canal Bridge and the Potteries Green Belt
- Highways and Access – resolving visibility and access concerns tied to Station Road
